Also in Nijmegen, many people experience exclusion from society, discrimination, unfair treatment, polarization within their neighborhood and a lack of solidarity. The Team of Social Cohesion investigates these issues and works on solutions with a long term effect, that suits the needs of the targeted groups.
Sports will be used as a method to bring people together and also as a way for people to work on their health. By doing this we can increase social cohesion, because people from the same neighborhood will join a specific team and work together on their goals. They will receive guidance on exercise, nutrition, motivation and social aspects. Because they will be guided by one coach during their entire process, they always have someone to count on and to discuss any problems with. Apart from that, also the participants themselves can motivate each other.
The expectation is that this project will be implemented in February 2021.
